Re-imagined Worlds - May 2008
Artists Open House, Hove
Dark, fragmentary memories of past events, particularly those generating feelings of entrapment and escape continue to inspire my work. In my most recent installation, ‘Re-imagined Worlds’, I have attempted to capture those associated with experiences from my own schooling. As in previous work, studying old photographs from the family album has been a catalyst for reflecting and making.

Melodies Unheard - May 2007

Reminiscences about my mother’s memorable ‘Venetian’ skirt have been the inspiration for this installation, caught on camera by my father on a warm summer’s day in 1963. Female members of the family have been gathered together in the garden with the pet budgie to pose for the snapshot.

The work for this installation is inspired by the idea of capturing a moment in time from the past and to give it permanence whilst also presenting its fragile and fleeting nature. In this instance a memory from childhood was the catalyst for making.

The Point Hairdressers, Brighton
The work for the exhibition, ‘Ice Dresses’ is autobiographical in nature, incorporating ideas which attempt to capture real and imagined moments from the past. In this instance, it involves the ‘freezing’ of time and material within the story of the Snow Queen fairytale.
