Journeys Through Texture & Colour - April 2004
The pieces displayed in this exhibition have been made in response to explorations of my own personal history and ‘snapshots’ of particular moments in time. The figure continues to be a central theme in my sculpture and a vehicle for personal expression. Now I am referencing clothing, especially those seen in old family photographs as starting points for developing my ideas.
At the same time, experimentation with reclaimed materials such as polythene and cellophane are of key importance in investigating themes of memory and identity as ideas, attitudes and styles associated with fashion and body adornment are recycled and transformed.
